Kent Kalar (CEO/President) Kent joined SensorTran in 2004 as the Company’s CEO and President. From 1998 – 2003 Kent served as President and CEO of Extreme Devices, Inc., a semi-conductor fabrication company that produced wide-bandgap devices. While at Extreme Devices, Kent raised $35 million in venture capital. In 2003, he led the sale of a division of the company to a Fortune 500 acquirer. Before Extreme Devices, Kent was VP of Business Development at SPEC, where he was responsible for strategic planning, generating value from existing intellectual property, and commercializing SPEC’s technologies and products. Prior to joining SPEC, Kent spent eleven years at the 3M Company where he last oversaw a product lab responsible for developing 3M’s core multilayer flex circuit technologies. He led the team that introduced 3M’s first multilayer flex circuit products. Kent earned an MBA from the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota and a B.S in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute). |

David Hickey (Chief Operating Officer) Mr. Hickey has over 20 years of C-Level executive experience, with 14 years at the President / CEO level. Prior to joining the SensorTran team as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Hickey served as Senior Vice President of NOVA Technology. Prior to NOVA Technology, David served as President & CEO of a global foodservice company (Grindmaster) and Managing Director of the private equity group (Avenir) that owned the company. Mr. Hickey is responsible for turnaround of 17 international divisions, diversifying and growing 3 publicly traded & 2 private companies, and negotiating 10 global acquisitions. He has served on the board of eight global companies, assisting each in developing and executing aggressive top and bottom line growth strategies. David earned his BS in International Business from University of Buffalo and his MBA in Strategic Planning from Fairleigh Dickenson University. |

Paul Nicholls (Chief Marketing Officer) Paul previously served as Executive Director of the U.K.-based Oxford BioSignals Limited (“OBS”). Paul joined OBS in 2003 to introduce and exploit the company’s advanced neural network based signal processing and interpretation technology within the industrial markets. From 2000 – 2003 Paul served as the Senior Key Account Manager of the U.K.-based Sensa, currently the dominant player in the DMS market. Appointed as Market Specialist to expand and develop the market beyond down-hole oil and gas into wider industrial markets, Paul is a pioneer in introducing DTS technology into worldwide markets and expanding the system’s applications. Paul has a wealth of experience in overseas market development including the establishment and management of foreign representatives, partners, and joint-ventures. He holds a BA in Mathematics and Mechanics, with a Diploma in Accountancy and a Higher TEC Certificate in Mechanical and Production Engineering. He has high technology awareness and holds four worldwide patents, three of which are for commercial DTS applications. |

Mikko Jaaskelainen (Chief Technical Officer) Mr. Jaaskelainen has been involved in fiber optic sensing activities for 13 years, including extensive experience in the Oil & Gas industry. Most recently, Mikko spent six years with Shell International Exploration and Production researching and developing innovative methods to sense downhole and reservoir properties for production optimization, with a primary focus on fiber optic sensors. Prior to Shell, he worked for Corning, Inc., where he led development activities for optical amplifiers and served as the internal subject matter expert for high power laser diodes and optical components. Previously, Mikko did system development of fiber optic seismic sensing systems at PGS Exploration/Optical Products, Inc. Mikko earned his Master of Science degree in Electric Engineering at Lund University in Lund, Sweden, and he earned a Master’s Certificate in Project Management at George Washington University in Washington D.C., USA. He has presented and published research in the fiber optics field extensively in the past 13 years. |

John Rothermel III (Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing) John Rothermel has almost 20 years of sales and marketing experience in providing technology and services solutions to global power and energy clients. Prior to joining SensorTran, John served as Vice President of Business Development with Quantapoint in Pittsburg, PA. At Quantapoint, John’s leadership helped in scaling the company from its early stages through sustained double-digit revenue growth, establishing long-term, strategic relationships with multinational power and energy companies including Exelon, Chevron, BP, and ExxonMobil. Before Quantapoint, Mr. Rothermel served in roles of increasing responsibility with select engineering and construction companies, where he drove sales, marketing, and business development activities. In addition to several years of leadership experience, John is a professional engineer, and his educational credentials include a Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, both earned at Villanova University. Mohammed Fassih-Nia (VP Global Integration Services) Prior to joining SensorTran, Mohammed was Vice President of International Sales and Marketing at Phoenix Digital Corporation. Prior to that assignment, he served as Vice President of the Fiber Optic Division at Weed Instrument Company. From 1988-1996 Mohammed was Vice president of Research & Development at Texas Optoelectronics Inc. Mohammed holds several patents in the area of optoelectronics and fiber optics technology. These core patents have underpinned several multi-million dollar relationships with a variety of customers worldwide. Mohammed also has a broad knowledge of domestic and international markets and has established a wide-range of representatives in more than 30 countries. Jack Angel (VP Business Development, Oil & Gas) Jack joined SensorTran in April, 2008 as the Vice President of Business Development for the Oil & Gas market. Before joining SensorTran, Mr. Angel served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Sabeus, Inc. in Houston, Texas, where he had full operational and financial responsibility for all product lines. Prior to Sabeus, Jack spent 25 years at various Baker Hughes companies, including Baker Hughes Pipeline Management Group, QuantX Wellbore Instrumentation, Baker Oil Tools, Baker Hughes Inteq, and Baker Hughes, Inc. During those 25 years, Mr. Angel served in diverse leadership positions managing pipeline turnkey operations, global wellbore operations, marketing, business development, sales, and engineering. Chung Lee, PhD. (Corporate Scientist) Chung joined SensorTran in 2004 to manage the Company’s R&D activities for current and future DTS products. Mr. Lee has 30 years of experience in R&D and Production management for Photonic devices. During the last two decades, he has been deeply involved in Development and Production of Fiber Optic Sensing technologies. Previously, Chung was with Fiber Dynamics Inc as a VP/ Director of Engineering for 10 years, with Texas A&M University as an Assistant Research Professor for 6 years, and with Samsung Electronics for 5 years. Chung earned a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and an M.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, both in Electrical Engineering. He has authored 60 journal and conference articles, holds five U.S. patents, has received one NASA Innovation Technology Award, and has been awarded approximately $2M dollars in funding from SBIR, with all of these achievements related to Fiber Optic Sensing technologies. |

Joe Aizpuru (Engineering Manager) Joe joined SensorTran in April 2008 as Engineering Manager. Prior to joining SensorTran, he was Director of Engineering with Finisar Corp, where he managed New Product Development (NPD) for 4 years. While in that role, Joe was responsible for managing the launch of laser-based data-communication optical ports for emerging higher speed markets, and for commercial and consumer oriented sensor products. Before Finisar, he worked for Honeywell Inc. for 18 years in an optoelectronics group that served global consumer, commercial, and automotive markets. While at Honeywell, Joe’s roles included Design Engineer in Texas, New Product Transition Manager and Manufacturing Location Manager in a production facility in Mexico, and Design Manager of NPD in Texas. Throughout his career, Joe has led many efforts to improve critical administrative and manufacturing processes. Joe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 1986. |

Paul Hughes (Global Business Sector Manager, Midstream Petrochemical, Oil & Gas
and Industrial Processing Markets) Paul moved from his previous position with Schlumberger Sensa to lead the activities of SensorTran in the Midstream Petrochemical, Oil & Gas and Industrial Processing Markets. In recent years Paul has interfaced closely with global integrators and operators in order to realize the full potential of fiber based solutions for the Midstream O&G arena. Based in the UK offices of SensorTran, Paul’s objectives are centred upon Midstream Oil & Gas Projects, Pipeline Integrity and Flow Assurance, along with critical plant Leak Detection. In his former position, Paul was responsible for the Oil & Gas and Midstream Process Solutions business sector gaining constant major client exposure and project capture. Over the last 10 years in high-level client interface positions, Paul has been instrumental in solution development and product placement of Fiber Optic Distributed Temperature Monitoring systems to the Process and Oil & Gas market and in particular LNG, Sulphur and Pipeline monitoring and control. Simon Foster (Global Business Sector Manager, Power Transmission and Distribution) Based out of the SensorTran UK office, Simon Foster is responsible for managing SensorTran’s activities working with Power Transmission applications and Distribution such as environmental applications of DTS technology. He has been with SensorTran since 2006, previously managing the bid process for all vertical segments of the market. Simon previously spent six years in various key sales roles at Sensa (a subsidiary of Schlumberger Oilfield UK Plc) and Hamworthy Combustion Engineering Ltd. As the Commercial Manager for Sensa, Simon was responsible for managing the sales process for all of the LNG processing, Power Cable monitoring, and tunnel/building Linear Heat Detection markets. Paul McPhail (Technical Services Specialist) Paul has been with SensorTran since 2002 and is currently responsible for training and field service. Over the years Paul has been involved in every aspect of building SensorTran DTS systems, including assembly, test, and quality assurance and knows the products inside and out. Prior to joining SensorTran Paul was with Radiant Photonics, working in R&D on optical components for metropolitan area optical networks. Roberto Failla (Field Applications Engineer) Roberto joined SensorTran in March 2008. He has extensive experience in Systems Engineering, Software Development, and Customer Support. Specifically, Roberto spent 13 years as a Systems/Software Engineer for European Aerospace Companies, including Alenia Aeronautica in Italy and the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) in Germany. During his time at the University of North Texas, Roberto worked on research and development for new analytical and computational techniques for statistical analysis of data in diffusion processes. Roberto earned his undergraduate (Bachelor) and graduate (Master and PhD) degrees in Physics at the University of North Texas, and he has had his research published on numerous occasions. Mark T. Donohue (Chairman, Expansion Capital Partners, WHEB Ventures, Advantage Capital Partners) Mark is the Managing Partner and Chairman of Expansion Capital Partners, LLC. He has been an entrepreneur for 20 years and has depth of management and operating experience in many industries, specializing in sales / marketing and corporate strategy. Mark has served in senior executive roles for several venture-backed companies, and has fifteen years of investment management experience. He previously built two successful financial service firms and has a broad background in venture capital on both the buy-side and sell-side. Mark currently serves as Chairman of the Board for two portfolio companies: SensorTran and World Energy Labs. In addition, Mark serves on the Advisory Board of the Cleantech Venture Network, the leading data provider and conference organizer for Cleantech venture capitalists. Of note, Expansion Capital was the only venture capital firm to be a “Founding Investor” of the Cleantech Venture Network and Cleantech Capital Group. These firms managed investments across all asset classes, provided finacial planning and periodically advised clients on venture capital transactions. During this period, Mark was a Certified Financial Planner. Mark successfully sold his ownership stake in 1997. Kim Heyworth Prior to forming WHEB Ventures Kim ran the WHEB Partnership with Rob Wylie where together they helped over 20 clean technology companies in finding investment, routes to market and management. Phil Longorio Phil Longorio offers 30 plus years of experience in the oil & gas industry include a recent stint as CEO of WellDynamics. He previously served as vice president of Sperry-Sun, one of Halliburton’s product service lines, where he was responsible for general management activities for the market leader in borehole construction, formation evaluation, wellbore positioning, and reservoir drainage. Prior to that role, Longorio held various executive positions within Halliburton’s business development and operations groups in the US as well as the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. |

Timothy Cockshutt Mr. Cockshutt’s responsibilities at Advantage Capital Parters include assessing investment opportunities, evaluating and structuring transactions and managing existing portfolio relationships in Texas, New York and Florida. He joined the firm in 1998 and serves on the boards of several Advantage Capital portfolio companies. Mr. Cockshutt has 20 years of experience with institutional funds involved in venture capital, private equity, and microcap investing. Prior to joining Advantage Capital, he was a portfolio analyst at Meridian Advisors, Ltd., a private equity firm that managed three institutional partnerships.
