Temperature data is a key parameter for the assessment and analysis of how the local and global environment is affected by both natural and man-made processes.

The implementation of SensorTran’s advanced fiber optic Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) solutions represents a significant advancement for environmental and geothermal monitoring applications.

These DTS systems provide an affordable, proven and reliable solution for the dynamic temperature monitoring of oceans, waterways and the ground. They are equally suited to static and mobile surveys of both small and large areas.

A typical DTS monitoring solution would consist of one DTS unit connected to optical fiber(s). These fibers can either be permanently installed or, for example, be incorporated as part of a ships towed sensing cable array.

SensorTran’s intelligent DTS monitoring solutions provide real-time dynamic temperature data with high accuracy, fine resolution, and fast measurement speeds. They provide up to 40,000 discrete temperature points along the complete length of the optical fiber(s) together with their individual locations to deliver a complete temperature profile of the fiber(s) and hence their surrounding environment.
